He was taken and imprisoned because he adhered to Badlesmere, and there came the abbot and others to his houses at Waldershare and elsewhere and took and carried away his goods, on which by commission of the king inquisitions were taken and returned to the Exchequer of any part of the goods of which the king has not be served.

Note
The petition dates to the period of c. 1323. The body of Malemeyn and his lands were granted to the abbot of Langdon on 21 July 1322 (CPR 1321-4, p.184). On 4 April 1323 the abbot released his claim on the body and lands of Malemeyn, presumably in response to Malemeyn making three bonds in 40 marks to the abbot (CPR 1321-4, p.349; CCR 1318-23, p.703). The king finally granted a pardon and restitution of his lands to Malemeyn on 20 November 1323 (CPR 1321-4, p.184). It seems likely that the petition postdates this chain of events and represents Malemeyn's attempts to recover what he could from wasted estates.
