Nature of request
Memorandum concerning the manor of Whitefield. Weyvylle purchased lands there from the abbot, and bought neighbouring land from other people by parcels, and was able to build there whereof the entire is now held as one manor. Following Weyvylle's death the manor eventually passed into the hand of the king. Whereof it is necessary to have regard to the long and continual seisin in the blood of the king, and to the purchases both by warrants and by right, and similarly for the parcels of others who purchased them from the abbot so that the king is not disinherited of anything.

Note
This memorandum accompanies the petition SC 8/60/2959. That petition is a duplicate, and the other copies are dated to 1334 by the heading in Rot. Parl., vol II, p.73, making this petitions in parliament in 8 Edward III, though the record here is a Hale transcript. As Lysewy received the grant only in June and August 1334, it must date to later this year if Hale's attribution is correct (CPR 1330-4, pp.549 & 567).
