Nature of request
John de Luccombe states that as he was going towards Somerton to prosecute his suit for his inheritance against Richard, parson of the church of Luccombe, he was seized by armed men procured by his adversaries, wounded to the point of death, robbed, and taken by night into Wiltshire, where they would have buried him secretly if the hue and cry had not been raised. He was rescued by the marshal of the king's household, and is being held in the castle of old Salisbury. He asks that he might be released, and that a charter of pardon which was taken from him might be renewed.
