Description
Petitioners
William de Londres (London), clerk of the chapel of the Countess of Hereford.
Name(s)
de Londres (London), William
Addressees
King.
Occupation
clerk of the chapel of the Countess of Hereford
Nature of request
William de Londres requests the king's grace on behalf of his uncle, William Cachefreynchs, servant of Alexander le Peyntur, Keeper of the King's tron in London, who was accused of trespasses connected with the tron, and attached and imprisoned in the Marshalsea in the king's seventh year. He was released by Edmund de Maulee, then Steward, but because he has no acquittance for the imprisonment, certain malicious people wish to impeach him anew for this trespass.
Nature of endorsement
He is to explain how he was delivered from prison.
Places mentioned
Marshalsea prison, Westminster.
People mentioned
[Elizabeth de Bohun], Countess of Hereford
William Cachefreynchs, servant of Alexander le Peyntur
Alexander le Peyntur, Keeper of the King's tron in London

Note
The petitioner's uncle was imprisoned in 7 Edward II (8 July 1313 - 7 July 1314) and released by Edmund Mauley, who was Steward between February 1313 and April (?) 1314. Elizabeth, Countess of Hereford, died on 5 May 1316: as the petition seems to imply that she is alive, it would seem to have been presented between 1314 and 1316.
