Chaplains and Canons of Lichfield Cathedral.

Nature of request
The petitioners ask the king to order an end to all the evils that have recently occurred in their church and disturbed their service to God. They show that these disturbances by force and arms caused woundings and deaths and have not been deterred by decisions of Holy Church, or by the law of the land. Recently a man was killed in the entrance to their church. The killer confessed his errors in the same church in view of all the people and was then taken to gaol, and thereafter acquitted by a faulty enquiry.
