Nature of request
The petitioner asks for a settlement from Geoffrey Martin concerning a dispute between them. He shows that Martin and Seymour conspired together [in] a false statute merchant on the petitioner of £300 to themselves, for them to have in damages the rights to various tenements in Bristol, of which statute the petitioner was unaware. Nor did he attach his seal. He had no knowledge of the matter until he was taken and imprisoned in danger of his life and forced to make a release of his rights. He was arraigned concerning the false statute before Bradstone and his associate justices (as confirmed and recorded in the rolls that Notton keeps), of which trespass the petitioner was fined to the king and settled to him (i.e. by final agreement), but Geoffrey Martin has not made any settlement to the petitioner.
