Nature of request
The petitioner seeks the king's aid in the recovery of his money and goods, or compensation for their loss by the prince of Wales according to the law of the land. He shows that he came from Ireland with his merchandise and landed at Holyhead in Wales. The people of the prince entered in the gate with force and took from the petitioner £30 in money and other goods worth thirteen marks. The king sent letters to the prince demanding that he deliver to the petitioner the money and goods etc., as by loyal inquest. The inquest was granted with the agreement of the prince and the petitioner in the presence of Gocelyn Badlesmere and Bartholomew de Sulee on Anglesey ... and hostages received from the prince. The king granted an order by his letters to the prince to make delivery of the same or make amends ... his deputy within three weeks from Michaelmas.
