Nature of request
1) The petitioner seeks permission to pursue an arrest warrant at Bordeaux in Gascony, for the arrest on sight of various thieves who boarded the ship called St John with the petitioner's cargo on board, and took both ship and cargo against the law and against the will of the master and mariners, who were ejected in fear of the death of one mariner (John Levesqe). Ship and cargo are worth £150 sterling. Two millstones worth 100s were also taken.2) He also seeks permission (for himself and his associates) to pursue an arrest warrant at Bordeaux against Quartermain for £50 costs.1)
Nature of endorsement
Coram Rege et magno consilio.2) Let him sue by due process for the arrests. Sue by inquest in England or in the islands of Guernsey and Jersey, and the process made in due order. And submit for the arrest according to the agreement of the council, supported by other petitions in similar cases.
