Description

Thomas de Levesham of York.
Name(s)
de Levesham, Thomas
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
The petitioner seeks payment of an allowance of £52 12s for his time as the king's tax collector of wools in the North Riding of Yorkshire and his appointment as warden of the gaol in York Castle for life because of the costs incurred in the said office, and that Ralph de Nevill will fully show the king the truth of this petition. He states that he was lately assigned to collect the king's taxes in the North Riding of Yorkshire and moved to expedite this business according to his orders under the great seal, just as Lord Percy had a commission to ensure that the taxes were levied and taken to Kingston-upon-Hull for passage to the king. He was allowed £52 12s for his costs, which he has not yet received to his great damage and the impoverishment of his estate.
