The citizens complain that the steward and marshal of the household of Edward II breached their rights not to be impleaded outside the city walls.
Nature of endorsement
Let him have an order to the treasurer and barons of the exchequer that they search their accounts and other remembrances, as the king wishes to have an answer from the estreats of the Marshalsea concerning London in times past. And let him have another order to the chamberlains, treasurer and barons of the exchequer to search etc., and let him bring his evidences before the officers of the exchequer and explain his reasons why certain charges and demands are contrary to his franchise and charters etc., that he is then ... discharged etc., and he is also to have a writ to suffice in the meantime.
