Nature of request
The petitioner seeks recovery of ten oxen and cows that were stolen and taken from Cumberland into Yorkshire and there arrested together with the thieves by the king's bailiffs. He states that they were then taken by force by Moubray's bailiffs and set free through a conspiracy to divide the oxen and cows between them. After the division was made the king's bailiffs came once more to submit the thieves for trial. Moubray's bailiffs then came and freed the thieves by force and arms. The petitioner also asks that justice be done to the aforesaid thieves.
