Nature of request
The petitioners seek the peaceable use of Towneley Chase (appurtenant to the manor of Towneley in Blackburnshire) after the manner of their ancestors since time without memory. They show that Richard de Touneley (father of Agnes and Isabel) held the manor of Towneley to which the chase is attached, which manor and chase descended to Agnes, Isabel, and Cecile, after Richard's death. Later the chase was in the lordship of the earl of Lancaster, who hindered the petitioners in its use by his power etc., which hindrance was continued by the king's bailiffs to whom the lordship passed by reason of forfeiture.

Let then have an enquiry into the truth of their estate and returned into chancery, and let them have the same in the meantime.
