Nature of request
1) The petitioners seek release from various unjust charges made on them concerning certain of their merchandise (including wool).2) They also seek release of an annual payment of twenty-eight marks granted to them by a charter of the king's father for the maintenance of a chantry by four canons and one clerk each day in Leeds Castle for the souls of his father, mother and children, and withheld to their great damage.3) They also ask for the arrears of the said rent (as in 2 above), since the time Lord Badlesmere held Leeds Castle (for two and a half years), amounting to seventy marks.
