Nature of request
The petitioners ask the king to prevent the imminent loss of the right to hold a court in the manor of Hart contrary to the terms of the great charter and the future advantage of the king. They show that Robert de Clifford held the manor from them as of the heirs of Bruce, from the king without intermediate lordship. The Bishop of Durham demands the said manor on behalf of Clifford, by writ in his own court.
