Description

Henry of Lancaster, Earl of Lancaster.
Name(s)
of Lancaster; Earl of Lancaster, Henry
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
The petitioner asks that writs preventing him from reclaiming his inheritance be made void according to law and that he should be allowed his suit (for the recovery of his lands) at the common law. He shows that he is the next heir to lands in the above counties, as proven through the diem clausit extremum of his brother, Thomas of Lancaster. Holland had writs sent to the sheriffs of these counties for any lands in the seisin of the petitioner to be delivered to him, as contained in the writ attached to this petition.
Nature of endorsement
Robert de Holland was not part of the legal action previously agreed in parliament and made there for the delivery of the lands taken into the king's hands by writ etc. Inform the petitioner that it is not the intention of king and council to allow him to be ousted from his inheritance without his answer.
