Name(s)

Occupation

Nature of request
The petitioner seeks the king's intervention on his behalf to preserve the laws of Holy Church and his own [the king's] laws against the malice of William Carles. He shows that he was advocate for Henry de Torbok and in conflict with Carles in a case pertinent to the jurisdiction of Holy Church, still pending before the bishop of Chester. And now Carles (to harm the petitioner by malice and to make war on his client) has bought a writ of capias against him under a bill granted in king's bench to the hindrance of the execution of the petitioner's office in parliament. The petitioner asks the king to order his justices to take no action in the said capias during the present parliament (as in another similar case) and also to appoint other of his English bishops and justices to hear the case.
