Nature of request
1) The petitioner seeks the renewed protection of the king's justice and states that the sheriff of Curt appealed to the king of France to kill Bertram and Peres, and they were transported to Spermount Castle at the sheriff's behest with more than fifty [other] men and killed there contrary to the orders of the king's council.2) The petitioner also seeks compensation for Bertram's sons, William and Raymoun, for loss of their father, inheritance, and goods. The king guaranteed Bertram £100 of Bordeaux sous from the revenues of the Isle of Oleron for his lifetime, and the petitioner asks the king to grant the same to his sons.
