Nature of request
The petitioners seek the king's special grace to buy from Thomas and Isabella in pure and perpetual alms a rent of 100s and 130 acres of land in Woodnesborough, with the homage of John Gerard and his coparceners of half the fee of Elmstead, which rent and land are worth 100s each year and held of the king's fee to Leeds Castle. Three chaplains in the house of Langdon will perpetually chant for the soul of King Edward, the king's father, and for the souls of Thomas and Isabella. The Abbot and convent will maintain the aforesaid chantry forever and are willing to exchange the rent and land for other of the same value in another of the king's fees.
