Description
Petitioners
William de Langford, knight.
Name(s)
de Langford, William
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
The petitioner seeks recovery of 140 acres of land in Sutton according to law and delivered by a writ to the sheriff, such that he is not disinherited. He shows that lately a petition came before king and council in the last parliament that his lands and tenements in Sutton were bound in a statute merchant of £6 made by Peter to Richard. Henry (executor of Richard's will) was outlawed for trespass and the petitioner's lands were seized into the king's hands by order of a writ enclosed with the said petition to William Scot and his fellow justices of king's bench, to hear the petitioner's complaint that Piers was not seised of the land on the day of the bond.
Nature of endorsement
Let him have a writ to the justices to investigate his case etc. Until the justices render their verdict the lands are to remain in the king's hands.
