The petitioner seeks confirmation of his office as gatekeeper of York Castle made under the privy seal, because one Henry Miles produced a letter in court suggesting that a knight of the lord king's special grace was required in the office, contrary to the tenor of the petitioner's appointment. The king's father and grandfather appointed the petitioner to the same office.
