Nature of request
The petitioner seeks justice in that he leased the manor of Lashley in Essex to Rys and Saynt Albon for three years, and then he was held in Colchester prison in the custody of the sheriff at the suit of de Merk. Despenser then took the petitioner out of the sheriff's custody and Colchester prison and kept him in custody and in his prison until he quitclaimed to Despenser all of his rights in the aforesaid manor, which Despenser held from Rys and St Albon. Then Despenser entrusted the manor to Badlesmere along with the petitioner, who was held in custody and in prison until he released all his rights in the aforesaid manor, as witnessed through the transcript appended to this petition.
