Nature of request
The petitioners seek the return of a messuage with appurtenances in the parish of Colemanchurch near Aldgate in London, which was wrongfully withheld from them after the death of John de Sandale. Margery had peaceful seisin of the messuage and leased it to Sandale for his lifetime with remainder to Margery and her heirs. Sandale was not to lease the messuage or make any other estate therein during his lifetime, but after his death Bartholomew Badelesmere held it and the petitioners obtained a writ from the king ordering an inquest. Badelesmere threatened to pursue the petitioners at law for £100 if they did not withdraw their suit. The messuage is now in the king's hands and should not be held by Badelesmere.
