The petitioner seeks pardon for the killing in self-defence of Richard son of Richard. The petitioner was travelling on his horse from Cambridge market on the highway called Schirbrigg (near the field of Girton) on Martinmas last when he was attacked with a drawn sword and pursued up to a ditch which he could not pass in any way with his life, and in making his escape he killed Richard son of Richard.
