Nature of request
The petitioners ask the king to send close letters to the coroners that they instruct the sheriff to obey the king's will concerning their rights in a pasture appurtenant to their manor of Barnoldswick. The king appointed Giffard, Denum, Hoperton and Deynill as justices to enquire into their suit concerning their rights to the pasture (that Lacy took from the previous Abbot) and a writ was despatched to the sheriff to implement their decision, but he refuses to obey the king's orders in the matter.
