The petitioners ask the king to assign gentlemen to survey the damage caused to the ancient dykes and boundaries between Kesteven and Holland, which are lost because of the crossing [of the sea] that they should escape these dangers. The petitioners are ready to repair the ancient ditches, but have no knowledge of the boundaries by which the administrators ... the coroner, sheriff, and bailiffs ...
