Nature of request
William de Kareswell requests view of frankpledge and the chattels called 'waifs' in his manors of Caverswall and Dilhorne, for a reasonable fine: an inquisition of ad quod damnum has found that this would be to no harm or prejudice to the king, but nevertheless the Chancellor will not give him a charter without the assent of the king and council.
