Description
Petitioners
John del Ille (Isle), son of Roger del Ille (Isle).
Name(s)
Ille (Isle), John
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
John, son of Roger del Ille, states that in a suit between him and John de Margny concerning half the manor of Grafton in Northamptonshire, the justices did not wish to proceed because John de Margny claimed to hold for term of life of the king's lease, after the land had been taken into the king's hand. He petitioned parliament on this, and the king's father ordered a writ to be sent to the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer to inform the Chancellor of why the land was taken into the king's hand, so that he could order the justices to do what was necessary on the king's behalf; but the Treasurer and Barons have done nothing. He requests a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
He is to have a writ in Chancery to the Treasurer and Barons etc. that they are to inform the king in his Chancery of the reason etc., as he had before.
Places mentioned
Grafton, Northamptonshire.
People mentioned
Roger del Ille (Isle), father of the petitioner
William de Haured
Robert le Baud
Walter de Gloucestre (Gloucester), Escheator [South of the Trent]

Note
Dated on the guard to 1327-8, with reference to the action taken by the king's father on the previous petition (SC 8/53/2641); 'but cf. Pat. R. p.264, also AP 10291 and 2653'. CPR 1327-30 p.264 is dated 8 May 1328: this petition would seem to date from before that.
