[This petition is badly damaged and the sense is obscure.]Simon, a Jew of Oxford . . . Constable of Oxford castle received from a Jew of Oxford a . . . by name Blanche Hardy, that Roger thus appealed him, that he refused to give it for . . . but arrested that Gibeun and held him in the prison in Oxford castle for half a year . . . the last eyre of Oxford, and refused to release him from that prison . . . and other goods to the sum of 10 marks.Furthermore, whereas five Jews of Oxford . . . that same Gibeun concerning twelve articles before your council, and before John de Kyrkeby . . . and had made withdraw those complaints and those articles, and had had the aforesaid Jews indicted of . . . prison of Oxford castle after Easter, and still holds them in that prison . . . whereas that same Gibeun was removed by John de Kyrkeby he is put back by . . . damage than to your advantage. And if it please you, that the aforesaid Jews might be delivered . . . and pray to be able to sue their complaints against that same Gibeun and for your advantage. Therefore if they . . . deliverance . . .
