Nature of request
John, son of Roger de Isle, states that half the manor of Grafton in Northamptonshire ought to be his escheat because William Hanred, who held it of his father, was hanged for felony; but that Edward II seized it into his hand and gave it to Gawain Corder for term of life. After his father's death, John brought his writ against Gawain, who produced the king's charter, claiming that he ought not to answer without the king. John sued to the king to send a writ to the justices to proceed, but has been delayed for ten years by protections. He requests a remedy.
