Giles de Hykelton and Elizabeth his wife state that at Michaelmas in the king's tenth year, they leased a quarter of the manor of Hickleton to John Corzon and his heirs or assigns for twelve years; he is now dead, and because of his son Roger's forfeiture, the tenements are in the king's hand, and their rent is in arrears. They ask that they might have the farm, or the land at a fixed assessment in allowance for their farm, and the surplus, for a sufficient security to answer to the king for it during the aforesaid term.

Coram rege.If Roger is alive, he is to wait. If he has died as a felon, he is to show the deed, if he has one, in Chancery, and when the truth has been inquired into, justice is to be done to him.

CFR 1319-27 p.170 is dated in 1322, possibly 1 November. If Roger was forfeited in 1322, as seems likely, this petition must date from that year.The lease commenced at Michaelmas, 10 Edward II (1316), to last for twelve years.
