Nature of request
The Prior and convent of Hurley state that, although Geoffrey de Hurle had released and quitclaimed all his rights to housebote, haybote and fuel in the Prior and convent's woods, the Escheator is grievously distraining them for 10s. a year, claiming that they have appropriated these rights against the statute. They request a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
Because the said release of the said estovers granted in this way by the Prior's predecessor is not accounted or reputed in law as alienation in mortmain, he is to have a writ to the Escheator that he is not to molest him for that reason.

CCR 1337-9 p.16 is dated at Westminster, 12 March 1337, and states that the Prior has petitioned the king and council in parliament on this: so this petition must have been delivered to the March parliament of 1337.
