Nature of request
Richard de Huwell, formerly Sheriff of Lincolnshire, asks that an allowance be made to him for the damages sustained by him in receiving pollards and crockards during his period of office, in accordance with the will of the late king.
Nature of endorsement
The Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer are to be ordered by a writ of Chancery that they are to make due allowance to him and to everyone complaining in this way about pollards and crockards, according to the tenor of the ordinance made on this at the time of the king's death.

Dated on the guard to c. 1307, with reference to the List of Sheriffs and to the mention of the late king.Richard de Huwell was Sheriff of Lincolnshire between 15 October 1299 and 16 October 1300, which confirms the petition's statement that he received the defective coins between Michaelmas 27 Edward I (1299) and the following Christmas, when their use was forbidden.
