Name(s)
Hosiere, Philip

Nature of request
Philip le Hosiere of London requests payment for cloth taken from him for the king's use by Ralph de Stokes, clerk of the Wardrobe, both in the thirty-first and thirty-fourth years of the reign of the king's father and in the first year of the present king's reign.
Nature of endorsement
The Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer are to be ordered that, when they have seen the bills and searched the accounts, if they find that the king was provided with these things, they are to do what is reasonable; and if they find that the king was not provided with them, they are to call the parties and do justice.

People mentioned
Ralph de Stokes, clerk of the Wardrobe
Note
According to Tout, Chapters in the Administrative History of Medieval England, vol. VI, p.35, Ralph de Stokes was Clerk of the Great Wardrobe, between 15 April 1300 and 11 September 1320. As he is no longer Clerk, but the petition dates from the reign of Edward II, it must date from 1320-1327 - which accords with the French endorsement.
