Nature of request
Roger de Horseley requests a writ of surcease to the Sheriff of Northumberland against William le Corouner, who is impleading his under-bailiffs for destroying a ditch that he built to enclose his lands, in prejudice of the king's rights of agistment and herbage there.
Nature of endorsement
The Sheriff is to be ordered that if he can establish that this business touches the king's right, then he is to proceed in a sufficiently careful and prudent fashion, so that prejudice does not come to the lord king.

Note
Roger de Horseley was Constable of Bamburgh castle twice, as Northumberland Petitions no.47, pp.61-3 points out. This petition is dated there to 1314-1316, during his first appointment, for reasons that do not seem immediately clear. It is dated on the guard to '? 1318 seq.' with reference to CFR 1307-19 p.376 - Roger de Horseley's second appointment, dated at York, 6 October 1318.
