Name(s)
de Hoo, William

Occupation
Keeper of the Wardrobe of the Earl of Kent
Nature of request
William de Hoo makes five requests:1) He states that he was attached at Winchester and delivered into the keeping of William de Beuchaump, who forced him to grant him his land of Moulton in Suffolk. He requests a remedy.2) While he was in prison he had to give John Mawtravers 100 marks to be released on mainprise. He requests a remedy and the recovery of the 50 marks he has paid.3) Also in prison, he was forced to grant Nicholas de Reny, valet of John Mawtravers, two pensions which he had of the king. He requests a remedy.4) He requests a remedy for his goods and chattels, lost when the Escheator expelled him from the manor of Tolworth in Surrey, which he had been granted at farm by the Earl of Kent.5) He was forced to make fine with John de Loudham, formerly Sheriff of Suffolk, who threatened him with prison and loss of his lands, and with being indicted of being an adherent of the Earl of Kent. He requests a remedy.

Note
Henry Burghersh was Chancellor between 2 July 1328 and 28 November 1330. The third petition states that William sued to the Bishop of Lincoln, 'adunqes chaunceler' for return of his goods: so this petition must date from after November 1330, and also from after the execution of the Earl of Kent on 19 March 1330. However, it probably does not date from long after these dates. John de Loudham was Sheriff of Norfolk and Suffolk between 2 February 1328 and 5 December 1330.The acknowledgements in CCR 1330-3 p.306 are dated 22 April 1331. William de Hoo is described as parson of the church of Dallinghoo.
