The Abbot and convent of Hyde state that their predecessors have always received a pension of £100 of wax from the church of Kingsclere, for which they are taxed, as appears of record in the Exchequer, but that this has been withheld since the last vacancy in the church, withdrawn by Alexander de Bikenore, Archbishop of Dublin, because there has been no parson there since, and those who have the wardship of the church do not dare to pay the pension without the king's command. They ask the king to order his wardens there to give them their wax.

Coram domino rege.The Treasurer and Barons etc. are to be ordered that, when they have searched the remembrances of the Exchequer, and when the Abbot's argument has been heard and the truth inquired into if necessary, they are to inform the king.

Alexander de Bicknor was Archbishop of Dublin between 1317 and 1349. From the French endorsement, this petition is perhaps most probably from the early years of Edward III, possibly late Edward II.Richard Tybetot was presented to Kingsclere on 6 October 1317 (CPR 1317-21 p.34), and was still there on 13 April 1318 (CCR 1313-8 p.605). Robert de Wyvill was presented by the future Edward III when guardian of the realm, and this presentation was ratified on 8 December 1326 (CPR 1324-7 p.341). He is mentioned in CCR 1327-30 p.541 (15 May 1329). Peter de Vernoun is presented on 9 July 1330 (CPR 1327-30 p.540), but this presentation is revoked (1 November 1330) and Walter de Wyville presented (22 November 1330) (both CPR 1330-4 p.15). He is dead by 20 March 1336 (CCR 1333-7 p.663). 19 March 1337, William de Montague, Earl of Salisbury is granted licence to alienate the advowson of this church in mortmain to the prior and convent of a priory founded by him in Bisham, Berkshire.
