Nature of request
The petitioners state that at the feast of the Conception of the Virgin Mary in the second year of Richard II's reign, William Lavere leased to Geoffrey and his executors a plot of land called Suthland to hold until ten years after the following Michaelmas, but that within that time John Cheny and John Frebarn expelled Geoffrey from that plot, and still hold it, and John Frebarn beat and wounded Geoffrey. He sued them, and his executors have continued to do so, but because they are so poor and John Cheny and John Frebarn such great maintainers they do not dare to sue them any more. Therefore they request a remedy.
