Copy of inquisition held at Leeming on the Wednesday on the eve of the Ascension, 5 Edward III (8 May 1331), which finds that Adam Aroundel (Arundel) of Argam, father of Alice Aroundel and grandfather of Walter de Hemelsay, the current petitioners, held certain lands in Atlow Cowton of the gift and feoffment of his mother, and at the feast of St Martin in 27 Edward I (11 November 1299), demised them to William de la More, Master of the Order of the Temple in England and the brothers of the Order, to hold for thirty-one years, which elapsed at the feast of St Martin, 3 Edward III (11 November 1329); and that Alice and Walter never remised or quitclaimed their rights to the Master and brothers, nor did Edward II, Edward III or anyone else ever change their estate in them, and that the lands are in the king's hand because of the dissolution of the Templars and for no other reason, and that Alice and Walter are the next heirs and of age, and that they are held of the late Edmund Charles by knight service.
