Thomas de Heton requests of the king and council . . . by the Scottish war and is now completely destroyed again . . .by Thomas' petition delivered there it was ordered by a writ . . . Thomas a sum of money which was owed him from the time of the [king's] father . . .[twenty-]six marks which the king's father granted Thomas . . . Gilbert de Middelton and other services which he did him, of which sum . . . except one part, and that by assignment to the collectors of the custom . . . king, for the service he has done him and will do him, to order the said Treasurer . . due to him of the aforesaid sum, or to inform in Chancery what is in arrears . . . under the great seal to the said collectors to levy the said debt after . . . the same collectors.
Nature of endorsement
He is to have a writ to the Treasurer and Chamberlains to provide information in Chancery as to what is due from the said sum contained in this petition; and justice is further to be done.

Note
CCR 1327-30 p.332 is dated at Salisbury, 28 October 1328, but seems to be in response to a different petition, although concerning the same matter. Northumberland Petitions, pp.151-2 (no. 126) dates this petition to c. 1328.A note on the guard also mentions CIM 1307-49 no.372, a valuation of the lands of the traitor Gilbert de Middelton (dated 1318) and petition of Thomas de Heton for a grant of those lands - a petition which was later granted (CPR 1317-21 pp.310-1).
