Nature of request
John Hereford complains that he was wrongfully arrested and imprisoned in Winchester on the previous Tuesday, at the suit of William Bolt, and condemned, without response, to pay 40s. in a pie-powder court presided over by William Reson, Mayor of Winchester, and that before paying this sum he could not continue with his messages. He requests such a remedy for this matter that the king's messengers are not delayed in this way in future.
