Nature of request
Henry de Hertlyngton states that by means of threats, Ralph de Hastynges forced him to make him a release of all the right he had in the lands which were held by one William Wynell, his ancestor, of which Ralph had had wardship during the minority of William's heir, who died in his keeping. Ralph promised to pay Henry for this right within the next year, and gave him a sealed deed for a rent to be received from the lands as security: but Henry has never been able to have more than £60 for either the money or the rent, and Ralph has forced him to give up the deed, and all other documents concerning the land. He requests that a remedy be ordained in the present parliament, as Ralph is too powerful in his country for any other remedy to be open to him.

He is to sue at common law.
