- The community of the city of Hereford state that malefactors from the county of Herefordshire have often killed people in the city, but that the citizens do not dare to indict them for felony because of the ill-will of the great men of the county towards the citizens. They request a remedy.

Note (Additional information about the record)
- Dated on the guard to the reigns of Edward II or III - and judging from the hand and the French endorsement it would date from late Edward II or early Edward III - and tentatively to 1337, with reference to CPR 1334-8 p.442, a writ to the Mayor, Bailiffs and good men of Hereford to arrest those whom Richard Monyword, now imprisoned in the Marshalsea, collected within their city to maintain him in various unlawful emprises against them and others, which is dated at Westminster, 10 March 1337. But this may well have nothing to do with this petition.
