Walter de Hornested, mercer of London, states that Margery, widow of John Filiol, summoned him to her manor of Kelvedon in Essex with his merchandise, and made some purchases from him. She then invited him to stay the night, and, while he was with her, one John Payn, at the procurement of John Massager, servant and custodian of Margery Filiol, stole his pack. When he realised that it was gone, he raised the hue and cry, but the thief escaped.
