Nature of request
The Mayor and burgesses of Hedon in Holderness state that their town is in danger of ruin for want of repair of the water-courses that should cleanse their tidal waters and have always done, and that a commission has been granted to Roger Fulthorp and Thomas Tyrell and other wise men to inquire into the faults in these water-courses, and that they have begun their work. They ask that no supersedeas be granted to halt the work of this commission.

CCR 1374-7::p.440 is dated at Westminster, 16 August 1376. The petition mentioned is not this one, as it is from the tenants of the manor of Burstwick, but this is clearly the same inquiry.The original commission, CPR 1374-7 p.161, is dated at Westminster, 14 November 1375. The petition must date from between the two, most probably from 1376.
