Nature of request
The burgesses of Hedon in Holderness state that they hold their town of the king at farm, paying £20 annually, but have no means of profit except for payments for the landing of ships and boats in a water-course leading to the town, which they have had from time immemorial, and that some of the king's tenants of Burstwick have now made two trenches in the banks of this water-course, in the meadows of the vill of Ryhill, diverting the water and preventing ships and boats from coming to their town. They ask that these trenches be stopped up and the water returned to its proper course.
