Nature of request
Thomas de Havering states that James Beauflour and Bartholomew paid him £40 of a debt of £105 9s. established by a final account between them on the Wednesday after St Batholomew in the fourteenth year of the king's reign, and have refused to pay the rest, although he has sued a plea of debt against them in the court of the Sheriffs of London since the fifteenth year; and that James has forcibly taken back goods of his sequestrated by the Sheriffs as part of that process. The Sheriffs now are afraid to make execution against James, and so Thomas requests grace and a remedy, so that he can have his recovery.

Note
Dated on the guard to 'c. 1322 seq.' with reference to the mention of 14 and 15 Edward II (15 Edward II runs from 8 July 1321 to 7 July 1322). The petition suggests that some time has passed since 15 Edward II, yet it is clearly still from his reign.
