Hardel requests that the mayor and sheriffs of London be ordered by writ to proceed to judgement in the plea against the Swaulands for 2 messuages with appurtenances in London, and that they do justice to the parties as they find notwithstanding an order made before these hours so that Hardel is not disinherited. The pleas had been suspended because a writ was sent to the mayor and sheriffs that the land was in the king's hand for the debt and accounts that he owed, and in response to a requests by the petitioner the king ordered the mayor and sheriffs to proceed to judgement, as long as they did not proceed to judgement without consulting the king. The mayor and sheriffs have proceeded to judgement.
Nature of endorsement
Let it be ordered by writ to the mayor and sheriffs of London that if the process before them between the parties be as the petition suggests then they are to proceed to judgement, rendering the plea according to the law and custom of the city notwithstanding any order made before this time.
