Hale requests remedy as Reppes and others came to Thorpe Market on the day of the fair in the feast of St Luke and assaulted him and his men so that they were forced to flee, and have made other outages to him.
Nature of endorsement
He should sue at the common law, and have a writ to the sheriff or to the justices of the peace to take surety of the malefactors that the petitioner is able to go at large and to sue his right.

The petition is difficult to date exactly as no reference to this particular dispute seems to survive. Hales and Reppes both occur in the patent rolls from 1345-1370.
