Nature of request
Hale requests grace and remedy concerning firewood and coal that several of the king's ministers took from him in the twenty third to thirty first years of the late king's reign as he is grievously impoverished as is shown by the tallies and remembrances made between him and them.
Nature of endorsement
He should show what he has of the debt to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer, and they should make to come those that are mentioned, and do what ought to be done. And if the debt be found clear towards the king, they should certify the king.Coram rege.

Note
The petition is very similar in form to SC 8/50/2486. That petition has to date to 1318 or thereafter because it refers to debts from 1-11 Edw. II. This petition refers to sums owed from the time of Edward I. However the petition is so similar, and response to both almost identical so that it is quite possible that the two petitions are contemporary or near contemporaries.
