The petition clearly fits into the fall of John de Mowbray following the failure of the revolt of Thomas of Lancaster in 1322. The date of the petition to 1322 is confirmed by the inquisition presumably held in response to the petition on 23 June 1322 (CIM 1307-49, no.495).
